Grain Licence v1
What a Grain licence lets you do.
A creator who sets a licence price offers these terms for all their images. Pay the price, by hand or through an AI agent, and they’re yours for that image. The whole price goes to the creator.
- Use it
- Worldwide, in any medium, for personal or commercial work, for as long as you like.
- Not exclusive
- The creator can license the same image to others, and keeps their copyright.
- Credit them
- Credit the creator where practical, for example "Image: @handle via Grain".
- Don't resell the file
- Don't sell, give away or redistribute the image itself as a standalone file, or as stock.
- Don't claim it
- Don't claim you made it, and don't remove or forge its Grain credentials.
- Your proof
- The licence is the on-chain record of your payment. Anyone can check it, and it never expires.
A hackathon draft, on testnet
Grain runs on Monad testnet, where payments have no real value, and these terms are a plain-language draft, not legal advice or a reviewed contract. Before mainnet they’ll be reviewed by a lawyer, and creators will be able to choose their own terms, such as personal use only or no AI training.
